In 2005, the group started as a house fellowship with eight young men and women. Its goal was to promote social interaction and educate each other about Islamic principles, morality, and views. The fellowship later became the Organization of Nigerian Muslims, Raleigh. Over the past 20 years, the organization has grown to include more than 100 members. It has provided members with inspiration, spiritual guidance, financial and emotional support. The organization has an alliance with the research triangle's Islamic centers and masjids through consultative and cooperative relationships. The group is a member of the National Council of Nigerian Muslim Organizations (USA).
The development of the community and the desire to educate the next generation of Muslims led to the establishment of an Islamic school. With dedicated teachers, this effort has improved the youth's understanding of Islamic faith and practices. Additionally, a youth program was launched to empower young Muslims by providing them with skills, tools, and experiential learning experiences for personal and professional development. This program harnesses talents and potentials to develop the next generation of leaders who will contribute significantly to communities and society.
The group's diverse population necessitates a name change. Currently we are known as Triangle Islamic Center; dedicated to educating, learning, and propagating Islam.
